  • Low Wattage Volume 2

Our first project of 2006 is going to be the release of Low Wattage Vol. 2. We are now accepting demo submissions for inclusion on the CD which we anticipate will come out early summer (hopefully around the time of the relaunch of our spiritual home, the HAC in Irvine).

All demos will be listened to by members of a panel, who will decide the final tracklisting. Any suggestions for anything else (multimedia maybe?) that could be included on the CD are much appreciated. Demos should be high quality recordings. Quality of demo will be a major factor in selection.

We'd love this to be a team effort, so anyone who can help with publicity or anything else should also get in touch. There will be an artwork competition with the winner designing the front cover.

Demos should be sent to Scott Hamilton, 9 Lamont Drive, Irvine, KA128HD

Suggestions/artwork should be sent to lowwattage@hotmail.com

    Thanks!!!
    Scott LW

    2006 SPRING CLEAN
We are thinking about giving Low Wattage a bit of a facelift for 2006. So, we'd appreciate your ideas on anything you would like to see on the site. If there is anything that you feel you could contribute to LW, that would be most welcome. We'd really like to update our photography section more often so anyone who emails me band photography will get it included on the site. Usual address for submissions!

We hope 2006 will be a good year for the local music scene in Ayrshire. Willie is doing his thing at the Palace, Derek is doing great things at Parkers, and we should be back to putting shows on at the Harbour Arts Centre in summer following its £1,000,000 refurb. Before that however, we will put out Low Wattage Volume 2 featuring some of the best bands in Ayrshire (more on this later).

If any band want their profile updated then let us know at lowwattage@hotmail.com If you know any bands who aren't listed with us, get em to contact us and we'll get em added asap!

  • That was the year that was......

    So that was 2005....

Our shows in Kilmarnock have come to an end, a big thanks to everyone who made it along to the gigs. There was a lot of genuine support for the shows and it made us feel like all the organising (and frantic activities after work on Fridays) was worthwhile. Well done to Willie for pulling it all together, Stuart for doing the PA for most of the year, Adam for stepping in on sound duties towards the end, Dave for his sublime DJ sets, and to all the amazing bands who played!

Willie will continue to put shows on at the Palace in the new year although LW wont be directly involved. We are looking towards the Harbour Arts Centre reopening sometime around the summer when we should re-establish our monthly slots.

Cheers to everyone who has been involved with us in 2005!

We hope everyone had a brilliant Xmas, and we wish you all a happy (and of course rockin!) new year. Take care.

Hey guys, got an email from Furry Dice Management, they got some interesting stuff on the go in the near future. Why not drop Stoo a line if you are interested in working with them. Check em out at www.myspace.com/furrydicemanagement
    *************

Furry Dice Management, (FDM), will be a management company set up for unsigned bands based in the west of Scotland. FDM will look for the best potential in bands, bands which show the willing to work and possible become well known within the area or signed to a record label.

    1. FDM has one current band on their roster that have performed gigs in and out with their own area of the west of Scotland.
    2. FDM will be linked to another company, “Urchin”, to provide bands and acts for their Scottish Showcase in the world famous Camden Underworld in London every six weeks. This gig will show off the bands to major industry personnel with a chance to become scouted.
    3. FDM will also host a number of showcases to spot new talent and give young fresh talent a chance to be seen by a big audience and gain some live stage experience.
    4. It is hoped that many of the showcases will be hosted in the popular pub venue, Nice n’ Sleazys in Glasgow or another popular glasgow venue.
    5. Local gigs at pubs across Ayr, Prestwick, and Troon are also planned.
    6. The events will be promoted through local radio, West FM, Clyde1 and Radio Scotland. In addition there will also be gig listing in local and national newspapers and magazines. FDM will also use the aid of any street teams that the artists may have to self promote the artist and events.
    7. Any bands interested should send a demo to Stoo Traquair Furry Dice Promotions, 6 Kilmory Place Troon, KA10 7HJ. Or send an email to Furrydicemanagement@hotmail.co.uk, Or log on to www.myspace.com/furrydicemanagement

  • The story goes on....

We had yet another awesome show at the Palace theatre with all the bands playing great to a packed house. Hopefully we can keep up the momentum and have another busy night in October, so come on!

There are rumours that this gig is gonna have some kinda Halloween flavour (seeing as Killie people cant wait for the 31st!), so break out the gimp suits.
